Founded by Kari Gaffney in 1988, Kari-On Productions provides radio promotion, media relations, editorial, marketing and career consulting services for musicians, ensembles and record labels. Kari Gaffney, along with her partner Jeff Williams, offer a profound knowledge and dedication to the passion of music along with outside-of-the-box promotions. We look at all avenues of promotion, we also analyze how we can increase an artists exposure to new audiences via publicity and radio airplay.

Kari-On Productions clients are primarily jazz and supporting genre sub-categories. The firm also promotes successfully and with clear proven results; Blues, World, Triple A, and Classical as Melodic Promotions (same company just different name to distinguish the different genres).

Prior to forming Kari-On Productions, Gaffney, a native Southern Californian, grew up surrounded by family and friends deeply involved in all aspects of the entertainment industry; many are famous performers, actors, songwriters, producers and sound engineers. All have enjoyed the many facets of success in the entertainment industry, including the business, performance, and the production of music. Some of the projects include such notable artists and productions as; Bruce Springsteen, Extreme Games, CSI NY, Transformers I and II, Radio Days, Freddy Fender, Doug Sahm, Chris Gaffney, Dave Alvin, Lucinda Williams, No Doubt, Offspring, Stone Temple Pilots, Eddie Daniels, Chris Holiday, Llew Mathews, Diane Schuur, Lou Rawls, Bon Jovi, James Brown and beyond. Gaffney herself has 2 pop albums, 2 jazz albums and has recorded numerous singles for various compilation CDs. Her jazz releases enjoyed national distribution through Borders, Books and Music. In, addition Gaffney put together 5 US tours on her own to promote Angel Eyes and Satin Doll.

Gaffney's experience as a touring musician, promoter, Indy label, distributor, and entertainment agency has given her the hands on experience to understand and coordinate with many facets of the entertainment industry and the knowledge to better serve her clients. Additionally, Gaffney has enjoyed a long-time career handling PR for fortune 500 companies, artists, and actors. Her experience in marketing and music go hand in hand along with her extensive contacts built over a 21 year span. She has obtained coverage in top print magazines, newspaper print and industry publications along with valuable online print, blogs, podcasts, zines and beyond. The internet is a valuable part of promotions, especially since the evolution of the iPod, Facebook, Twitter and other social networks. Kari-On Productions utilizes these elements to enhance each artists campaign to its fullest potential to enhance traditional promotional efforts.

With 21years experience in breaking new artists and representing independent labels as a radio promoter, publicist and artist, Kari Gaffney has long-standing relationships with leading members of the print and broadcast media in the US, Canada and Europe. She also knows what it’s like to be on the receiving end of a call from a publicist or a record promoter and prides herself in creating campaigns that serve the artist's needs, not just a blanket packaged concept "one size fits all."

This, as well as a passion for music and the exceptional ability to present each artist’s release with clear vision, highlighting the uniqueness of each project, has led to a reputation for quality and a level of trust between Kari-On Productions and the industry.

At Kari-On Productions we take our role as your promoter seriously and your music personally!! We treat our clients’ projects as though they were our own creations, because we have walked in your shoes we understand the sacrifice and commitment it takes to put a life altering concept like a release in a forward motion to begin with. Once Kari-On Productions has been retained, we start working for you well before the “official” start date of the promotion. While we do like our “personal-time” we are on call for our clients 24/7, should issues arise – we don’t keep “banker’s hours” since musicians don’t lead a 9-5 lifestyle!

We carefully plan each release and strategize for optimal result. Experience has proven that promoting 3 to 4 stylistically diverse projects at a time is our limit. We don’t schedule artists right on top of each other, but rather schedule them to launch so that if running simultaneously they are at different stages (i.e. beginning, middle, end). This way:

a) One client is not competing with another for the same print coverage or radio adds.

b) Like instruments (including same style vocalists) are not being promoted at the same
time vying against each other for placement.

c) Individualized attention and follow up can be given to each artist, which will focus on the target desires and contacts for release specificity.


d) We provide "todays" marketing tools, 2.0 media, FULL GRAPHICS ON OUR "ONE SHEETS" at NO CHARGE (the graphic charge alone would cost you $500 to $1,000 elsewhere). We value your project, we will not present your release with a b/w photo copied press release, and we take pride in the presentation of your CD. You meticulously took the time to make your CD presentation
"top-notch," why would we disrespect you by sending out sub-standard support materials.
